and a happy New Year to all those people visiting this site.
Issue 32 contains and exclusive interview by Miles Johnson with Nick Pope discussing his time at the MOD and his investigation of the Rendlesham Forest case from 1980. Part two to follow in next month's issue.
There is also the first part of my analysis of the 2006 PRUFOS Police Database report. After 5 years I now feel as if there is enough material to produce meaningful statistical data.
There's lots more in the magazine so why not take the plunge and order your very own copy of the magazine. Purchased via paypal it can be in your email box in seconds!
Updated 02/12/06
I have spent the last few weeks compiling the 5th annual PRUFOS report. As usual I left it until the last minute to do it and then worked flatl out to complete it on time!
It is only when I put the report together do I realise how good or bad I've done for the year. I was pleasantly surprised with the result. I intend to release it to the press in a couple of weeks time after the subscribers have viewed it first.
I have been provisionally asked to do a lecture in Amsterdam in the New Year for John Kuhles who runs the Untoldmysteries website and radio show.
Well that's it for now. I will update before Christmas.
***********************************************************
Apoligies for the long delay in updating this page.
Well over the last four months I have been extremely busy with my police work and sometimes this means there is little time for this aspect as the compilation of the magazine takes foremost priority with my available time.
That said I have given lectures at the Third Irish UFO Conference and in Truro, Cornwall at their respective two day event.
Both were memorable because in the first I met leading Brazilian researcher AJ GEVEARD and at the latter BUDD HOPKINS. Both people are in my top 20 researchers in the world.
I am currently in the process of putting together the 5th PRUFOS report which will hopefully go out in the December or January issue.
On 1st November 2006 Channel Five aired 'The British UFO Mystery' in which I briefly appear. The programme concerns the events of 31st March 1993.
It is an extremely important documentary for mainstream terrestrial television. At the end of the programme NICK POPE stated that all conventional/terrestrial explanations had been eliminated leaving in effect only one answer - genuine ET.
As far as I am aware it is the first time a terrestrial TV programme has effectively endorsed an ET explanation as the most likely cause of a major series of sightings.
I will review the programme in the December issue of the magazine.
I am currently researching what could be a major sighting over London involving a police helicopter crew from a few years ago. More news soon.
UPDATED 01/07/06
Issue 26 is now being distributed on a day when England sadly bowed out of the world cup.
I was away in the middle part of the month completing an advanced police cognitive interview of witnesses course which should come in very handy in my capacity of UFO researcher.
This month sees me complete my assessment of the formerly secret MOD report on UAPs from 2000. Far from being a report that sounds the death knell of the subject I believe there is much positive material in there to promote the subject. Read my review in issue 26.
I am currently in the process of trying to get a publisher for my proposed book on police sightings entitled 'UFOs - Through Police Eyes'.
In Ireland Dermott Butler and Carl Nally of UPRI have just had their first book published entitled 'Conspiracy of Silence - UFOs over Ireland. I am currently halfway through it but I want to congratulate them for an important and interesting book. Well done. Details on how to get the book yourself can be found in the latest issue of the magazine.
In my spare time I will hopefully begin work on a long term project which has been on the 'backburner' for well over a year. It's a script I'm writing about a young boy who has an incredible series of adventures with a aliens. I will hopefully be working with a London based animation company to turn it into a short animated film. Fingers crossed on funding.
I am determined to raise the profile of this subject via the magazine, the PRUFOS Police Database and by film.
At long last I am making plans to finally promote my scrpt of the Alan Godfrey story from 1980 entitled 'Ordinary Copper, Extraordingary Encounter.' The project has been on hold since the unexpected death of Graham Birdsall and the launch of UFO Monthly.com.
Remember to keep sending me your stories and spread the word about the magazine.
Next month Eamonn Ansbro makes a welcome return to the magazine with an article about this latest research and there will be another set of amazing images from the skies above Portmouth.
UPDATED 31/05/2006
As we march into a third year of publication we take in the news of a hitherto unknown MOD paper on UAPs. Operation Condign, as it is known bears a striking resemblance to the infamous Condon Report from 1969.
With a dismissive executive summary at the start it proposes that the incredible flight characteristics displayed by UFOs over the last 60 years are the result of nothing more than 'plasma'!
It then gets into the science of explaining how these 'all singing all dancing' plasma spheres, triangles, rectangles etc do their stuff. Really.
However when you make a closer reading of the entire document you begin to realise that it raises far more positive questions about UFOs that you initially realised.
Download the paper and review it for yourselves.
On the lecture front I am give a talk about the PRUFOS Police Database at the Probus Club in Wakefield on Tuesday 6th June at 1400 hours.
UPDATED 29/04/2006
To celebrate our two year anniversary I have put together a have a special 35 page issue.
Inside it will contain details about how I see the future of the magazine developing. I know a physical magazine is what people really want. This will explain my current thoughts on that possibility.
Issue 24 will also feature an extraordinary and exclusive report of a set of UFO sightings originating from just one family!
Since the redesign of the website we've had 20000 hits so it seems to be going down well with everyone.
I am beginning to broaden the magazine's international appeal by getting links to other major sites. The latest one is to the Jerry Pippins Show at www.jerrypippin.com
I would like to thank all of our readers for your support in this venture over the last two years.
GARY and VALERIE.
UPDATED 05/04/06
I am currently in the final stages of putting together a book synopsis and sending it to a literary agent recommended by a top author. The book will feature the work of the PRUFOS Police Database and the many officers stories that have come my way over the last four years of research.
The new design of the website seems to be going down well with many favourable responses. As time goes on I wish to use the site more and more.I have plans to open an online shop for various items for sale. All of which will be revealed shortly.
Issue 24 will include several new cases that are exclusive to the magazine.
For those of you that like to purchase the magazine via Ebay it is now relisted.
UPDATED 12/03/2006
Issue 22 is out and I'm now looking at issue number 23. This April edition will look at UFO sightings in the Republic of Ireland.
There is also an article by Vincente-Juan Ballester Olmos the renowned Spanish Ufologist. He has been a researcher since the late 1960's and is now responsible for collating the largest UFO photo archive in the world.
I am also working on my third UFO related screenplay which is likely to be an animated feature about an amazing case from the North east of England.
Betty Meyler has asked me to do another lecture at what will be the third Annual Irish conference taking place in Carrick on Shannon on September 23-24 2006 (further details in due course).
For anyone who has missed the series so far watch UFO Files at 8 pm on the Discovery channel every Sunday. I've been watching for the last four weeks and I would have to say it is one of the best UFO series ever made. Make sure you watch it.
UPDATED 25/02/2006
Issue 22 will be available on 28th February for distribution and purchase.
Subject to my work schedule I have been asked by the President of the Irish UFO Society, Betty Meyler, to speak at her third annual conference in September. Final confirmation shortly.
This will represent a second appearance at the conference following my lecture in Galway in 2004.The PRUFOS Police Database featured in an article in the 'Big Issue' dated 12th February 2006. Similarly my fourth PRUFOS Report featured in an article in Police Review .
Breaking news - I have been approached by a uniformed female officer regarding an 'Off Duty' sighting she had during the early hours of Tuesday 14th February 2006 as she was on her way home after working her shift. Details to follow in next issue.
A Producer from the 'Richard and Judy' show rang me asking if I would do a slot on their programme. I agreed and waited for confirmation that never came. Is it paranoia on my part or did someone realise I might say something on 'live' TV!
UPDATED 30/01/2006
It has been been a very busy period for me over the last couple of weeks. I have released the 4th Annual PRUFOS Police Database report to the National Press, TV and selected researchers.
The national press have totally ignored the report.
However I have appeared on BBC 'Look North' regional news programme which went well despite the attempt of one of the interviewers to trivialize the subject.
That in turn led to a brieft appearance on Radio Five live just before 1700 hours. Sadly it was too short an interview to really get much information out.
The next day I did an early morning breakfast piece for BBC Hereford and Worcester radio. Once again the very sceptical interviewers tried to give me a hard time but they did let me get my points over.
The highlight for me of the week was appearing 'live' on the popular US radio show 'The Jeff Rense Show'. I was a guest for 70 minutes or so and it was a serious and interesting discussion. Appearing as a co interviewer was Brian Vike of HBCC Research in Canada.
I have obtained a copy of the audio file and will be releasing it shortly.
I recently circulated the report to my peer police magazine - POLICE REVIEW and they have done a small piece on the statistics to date. They have also contacted me with a view to a further more detailed piece in the near future.
Finally I have just completed an interview for an article in a forthcoming issue of 'The Big Issue'.
I'll keep you posted. I will be uploading more images to the gallery in the next couple of weeks work permitting.
I'm just putting the final touches to issue 21 so best get on!

UFO MONTHLY.COM NEWS
UPDATED 13/01/2006
At long last the new website is almost finished. I hope you like the new design. I would welcome any feedback.
The new website coincides with the release of the 4th Annual PRUFOS Police Database report to the worldwide media.
As a result I have been asked to appear on the 'Jeff Rense' radio talkshow on Friday 20th January 2006 (times to be decided).
In addition I have been asked to appear on BBC's 'Look North' television news programme on Monday 16th January 2006.
As you look around the new website you will soon notice that the it now incorporates the PRUFOS Police Databse under its own sub heading. Not all of the former site has been integrated as yet but the main two sections of 'On and Off Duty' sightings has. The entire report is now in place.
I have done this in order to create a 'one stop' reference site.
I have recently been chatting to Tim Good about his forthcoming coming book 'NEED TO KNOW' (due for release in July 2006) and I have a feeling that this year the subject of UFOs in general will take a long awaited positive upturn.
That can only be a good thing especially as the media would have you believe that the subject was on its last legs.
Remember, I am reliant on you sending me material for the magazine. Without you there is no magazine. So keep your eyes peeled and get posting.
GH.
UPDATED 01/01/2006
First things first - A happy New Year to all of our readers.
In 2006 I intend to release much more material to the press to fight back at the negative publicity the subject has attracted during the last year or so.
I have just signed the petition 'United Nations Decade of Contact' pressing for Disclosure and formal contact with extraterrestrial intelligences. See the latest issues to see how you can play a part in that process.
There is much work to be done so tell your friends about the magazine. The bigger the magazine the bigger its impact will be on the subject.

UPDATED 13/12/2005
Well after a lengthy unforced delay I am happy to report that the new look UFO Monthly.com website is now up and running.
The delay was caused my previous server failing to release my two domains UFO Monthly.com and PRUFOS.
Despite a complaint they have still not released them so I have been forced into taking the matter into my own hands by changing to a new server, 1and1.co.uk, this has necessitated me having to change the website url to:
www.ufomonthlymagazine.co.uk
So please update your web links accordingly.
Hopefully now I can get back to the business of bringing you the magazine!
NEW UPDATED 30/08/2005
It has been a while since I've updated the website. Three days after the last update the London Bombings occurred and I found myself staying in London for several weeks working on that police enquiry. That and two weeks away in Turkey and you can see why there hasn't been much time.
Since the holiday I've remained back at Leeds and caught up on my backlog of enquiries and worked late into the evening making sure the September issue was completed.
The last two issues have been difficult to do given my work consideration but bar ill health I will always make sure it gets out.
I am looking forward to a slightly easier schedule for the October issue!
So what news is there?
Well according to the national press the subject is dying out! Bull!
What it does show very clearly is that the UK UFO field is fragmented and without a market leader.
There are many fine newsletters and small publications but none offer the scope of UFO Monthly.com. I believe passionately that the way to go is to unite behind one publication and build up the readership by subscription to the point where it will be economically viable to produce a nationally recognised printed magazine.
That is my ultimate aim for UFO Monthly.com. As far as I can see no-one else caters a magazine layout of the scope of UFO Monthly.com.
The sightings are still happening in Britain and the rest of the world and many websites do a great job in getting that information out ie UFOINFO, Filers Files, Art Bell etc but that doesn't cut it with the press.
I believe the UK needs a national publication. If you read this and ever want to get back to a nationally recognised UFO publication then decide what you want.
I don't put software on my PDFs of the magazine to stop it being copied and sent in house to various members of groups because the cost of the magazine is deliberately kept low - less than a pint of beer. If groups get one issue and copy it for their members all well and good for the group members but you absolutely destroy any chance of creating the revenue needed to produce a large scale printed magazine.
This is not a whinge on my part - it is a simple economic fact. Short of a rich benefactor coming out of the woodwork the only way sufficient revenue can be created is to have enough people uniting behind a single publication to make it economically viable. It is a simple choice you have to make.
If thousands of people in Britain and Europe were to subscribe to UFO Monthly.com the money generated would eventually allow for a national printed magazine.
So tell your friends, don't copy it for others and make this magazine grow for the benefit of the entire UFO community.
In the end whatever the numbers of people getting the magazine I will still continue every month because of my love of the subject regardless. However I do think that if numbers do not increase significantly the UFO community will have shot itself in the foot.
The Wakefield Express newspaper are doing an in depth look at my work with PRUFOS and the magazine and should come out on Friday of this week.
The Channel Five documentary on UFOs is set to go out sometime in November or December 2005.
Today I have received sad news that former airline pilot Graham Shepherd has died following a long illness. I had met him just a couple of times but found him very genuine. My thoughts go out to his family.
The next update will go out in Mid September.

UPDATED 04/07/2005
I am pleased to announce that I have begun a collaboration with crowdedskies.com to promote the magazine to a wider audience. Crowdedskies is one of Britain's most popular website with over 5 million hits a year. See Issue 14 for further details.
On 28/06/2005 I did a short lunchtime interview on Talksport national radio. The presenter was fairly sceptical of the subject and he asked me for a really good piece of evidence. I then told him of the Mexican Air Force case last year and strangely I was cut of in mid sentence halfway telling the story! Coincidence or not?
Hopefully in the next few days you will see a major re-design of the UFO Monthly.com website. Let me know what you think of it.
UPDATED 01/06/2005
Issue 13 has now been fully distributed. I will be away for the next six days in Eire.
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - I have compiled a special 12 issue CDROM for the magazine's inaugural year. I have placed it on EBAY and it can only be obtained there via PAYPAL. It comes with a CD case, label and includes postage and packing to anywhere in the world. The cost is just £16. See my Ebay shop for further details.
UPDATED 23/05/2005
I am currently in negotiation with a major British UFO website about a strategic plan to promote UFO Monthly.com on their site. I will hopefully bring you further news in the next couple of weeks as I seek ways to increase its circulation. I still believe that UFO Monthly.com offers the best way nationally of bringing the best of this subject together.
Only if sufficient numbers subscribe to the magazine will there be a possibility of a nationally printed UFO magazine.
UPDATED 02/05/2005
With Issue 12 UFO Monthly.com celebrates it's first birthday. See updated 'Current Issue Page' for full details of the content of the magazine.
I have recently been away on a three week police Advanced Interviewing Course in Kent designed for interviewing suspected murderers etc (this should help me getting people to give me their UFO stories!).
I will post a further update later in the month. The current issue is being distributed and I hope you enjoy reading the magazine.
I want to personally thank all of the people who subscribe to the magazine. Without your stories there would be no magazine. A big thank you from Gary and Valerie at UFO Monthly.com.
03/04/2005
I am appearing on the BBC Radio show 'Talksport' tonight (Saturday 5th March 2005) as part of their 'Unexplained' Series.
I have two lectures planned in the next few weeks:
On Saturday 12th March 2005 I will be giving a lecture at the invitation of BUFORA in the function room of the Sols Arms Public House, 65-68 Hampstead Road, London. It is near to the EustonTower and is within five minutes of Euston SQ and Warren Street tube stops.
Doors open at 3pm. The cost for non BUFORA members is £7 payable on the door.
Secondly I have a lecture taking place on Saturday 16th April 2005 in Manchester as a result of an invitation from the PARAQUEST UFO group. Venue details to follow.
UPDATED 20/02/2005
As you can see from the addition on the website homepage toolbar, the magazine is on EBAY on a 10 day sale basis. This is prior to the opening of an EBAY shop.
I've had several emails over the last few months from people who want to purchase online. This should hopefully cater for them.
The shop will offer all the back issues and subscription rates.
I wish to emphasize that the email attachment is my preferred option as a method of sale. With the increase in attachment memory given by the likes of hotmail etc there should be few problems in sending the magazine via email.
It should provide a very quick method of service delivery to customers once the payment has been received by UFO Monthly.com.
Please keep sending me your articles and letters. The feedback is very welcome as I want to provide a magazine and service you will enjoy.
As with most new ventures there will always be a number of teething problems but be patient and I'll get there. GH.
UPDATED 20/01/2005
Happy New Year
Following a number of recent short studio appearances on BBC Radio Leeds over the last few months, I have been asked to do a one hour show on UFOs and the work of the PRUFOS Police Database. It is scheduled to go out on Tuesday March 8th between 1000-1100 hours on the John Boyd show.
As some of my regular readers will know I am now trying to promote a feature length screenplay I have written about the ALAN GODFREY case from November 1980. It covers a five year period of his life between 1977 and 1982. I spent 18 months with Alan researching his story that it is much more than a UFO sighting. That event was to have a profound effect on both his private and professional life. Fundamentally it is a great human interest story with many twists and turns where the truth really is much stranger than fiction.
In the last few days a Lancashire film production company has approached me about the possibility of turning the screenplay into a feature film. I will let you know how things progress.
The magazine continues to expand on an international scale with readers in the following countries;
England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Eire, Channel Islands, Holland, Belgium, Canada, United States and Australia.
I hope to announce a major new development for the magazine in mid February 2005 so keep an eye out for it over the next few weeks.
I have recently created a 'Sample Article' page on the website for people who are curious about the content of the magazine. I am happy to release these articles into the public domain to be used by the press and public alike.
Well that's all for now. Happy reading. Please keep your articles and letters coming in. GH

UPDATED 15/12/2004
The magazine continues to grow and expand and I am currently in the process of approaching a number of well known researchers with a view to them making regular contributions to UFO Monthly.com.
I am currently putting together the first of a two part special - The 3rd Annual PRUFOS Report.
The first part will feature in the next issue of the magazine, out on December 28th 2004. It will highlight many new police case from around Britain in the 'On Duty' category.
The following issue will highlight details of the 'Off Duty' sightings.
What I can tell you is that my research will release details of over 100 cases involving over 300 British police officers.
Incidentally for sharp eyed readers - Issue 8 will be labelled November/December 2004. Issue 9 will be labelled January/February 2005. Issue 10 will then be labelled March 2005.
This is purely a paper exercise to bring the magazine in line with all magazines ie they are issued one month in advance. This will end any confusion as to which is the current issue of the magazine.
PAYMENT REVIEW
As promised I am reviewing the payment methods for the magazine and I hope to bring you news of some major developments very soon.
Several documentaries have gone out on Sky TV and ITV detailing the work of the PRUFOS Police Database. I did a piece for 'Jane Goldman Investigates' which aired recently on the UK Living satellite channel. Similarly I did a piece for ITV West called 'Top Secrets Revealed - UFOs'.
Well that's all for now. From the team at UFO Monthly.com we hope everyone has a very happy Christmas and New Year.
Gary Heseltine - Editor UFO Monthly.com
******************************************************************************************
This page will update you on a regular basis with developments regarding the magazine. It will allow me to put urgent information to you at the click of a button. My principal aim in the first twelve months is to build a loyal magazine base from which to steadily expand.
If things go to plan I may be in a position to go part time with the police during the summer of 2005. If this happens the free time will allow me to spend three days a week promoting and developing the magazine.
The magazine has great potential to expand, my only problem has been my full time occupation as a detective. Effectively the more people subscribe, the earlier I may find myself in a position to make the next step.
Don't worry, my motives are not money. Believe me I sacrifice most of my free time to keep this magazine alive. I do so because something within me compels me to do so. It would have been so easy to walk away and let other people take on the mantle of promoting this subject, but when Graham died I felt I had to do something. I believed in the way Graham and the magazine promoted the subject and did not want that lead to die.
All monies raised are being put back into promoting the magazine, ie recent advertising in the November 2004, December 2004 and January 2005 issues of FOCUS science magazine (www.focusmag.co.uk).
On 19th November 2004 a similar advertisement will go out in Fortean Times. This is now the only mainstream magazine on the shelves that gives any outlet to the UFO subject and that coverage is minimal. I am hoping that there is a proportion of its readership that is open to the subject of UFOs. I want to get the message out to the outside world that UFO Monthly.com exists and is available on a monthly basis.
At some point in the future if the conditions are right I do not rule out a printed version of UFO Monthly.com because I readily accept that the best medium to read about the subject is via something you can pick up and view at your leisure.
Sadly the demise of UFO Magazine from mainstream magazine shelves has put the subject back several years in my opinion. I cannot help but feel that Graham Birdsall's legacy was removed from circulation with too much haste. I have to respect Christine's decision, but I do so wish that she had given some sort of warning as to her intentions, so that a consortium could have been put together to carry on the magazine. Many people, myself included would have put money into securing its future. The reality was that the magazine's stature and position in mainstream publishing was second to none, and the decision to withdraw it destroyed that in an instant.
In the end, if people really want a new 'UFO Magazine' in a printed form, THEY will have to create the conditions for that to happen. I suspect there are thousands of people in Britain alone who are literally lost without their regular UFO monthly fix. There are numerous UFO groups in Britain, but few talk to each other and fewer still reach a wider audience. How many many of these members know about this magazine? This subject will be lost to mainstream people unless the groups in particular unite to promote their work.
I invite all groups to send this magazine material for inclusion. I would like for groups to have a platform for their activities and research. UFO Magazine gave them that outlet on a national and international scale. Currently there is no other outlet available.
By becoming a subscriber and contributor to UFO Monthly.com, this magazine can reach a world wide audience via the internet, that in time could bring a printed version to a reality. The choice is yours.
